Ken Young

Ken Young is the General Manager of the Space Systems Business Unit at Aerojet Rocketdyne.  This business unit encompasses the In-Space Propulsion and Human Space programs located in Redmond, Washington.  In this role, he is responsible for the P&L, strategy and business development efforts of Redmond Operations.

Mr. Young is a 20-year veteran of the aerospace and defense industry.  Prior to joining Aerojet Rocketdyne, he served as General Manager of Lockheed Martin’s Unmanned Integrated Systems based in Huntsville, Alabama and Lockheed Martin Procerus Technologies based in Provo, Utah.  The two business units focused on unmanned aircraft platforms and systems, serving domestic and international customers, including the US Army, Federal, State, and Local Governments, and defense integrators.

Prior to Lockheed Martin, Mr. Young led segments of L3 Communications and Rockwell Collins.  He has supported and led business segments in program management, technology, and general management roles focused on defense electronic hardware and software production and development, electronic warfare, aircraft integration, and unmanned systems during his industry career.

Prior to his career in industry, Mr. Young served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, where he held technical leadership roles in engineering, law enforcement and counter-intelligence.  He served his final assignment in Washington, D.C. in a procurement role working with the Department of Defense, Congress, and intelligence agencies to begin the early definition of defensive cyber technologies.

Mr. Young holds an Associate of Science in Electronic Systems Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Management, as well as a Master of Business Administration.  He is married to the former Julie Atherton and has three adult children and two grandchildren.
