Take an Autumn Road Trip to Help RFH Harvest Cameo Apples, October 22
Rotary First Harvest is looking for volunteers to help harvest thousands of pounds of apples from an orchard in Cashmere, WA, on Saturday, October 22. Upper Valley M.E.N.D. contacted Rotary First Harvest to help them rescue fruit from several acres of beautiful Cameo apple trees that were not picked due to market conditions. With help from Rotarians, thousands of pounds of apples will go into the local hunger relief system instead of rotting on the orchard floor.
The glean is scheduled for 10:00AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, and at least 30 volunteers are needed to get the job done. Local apple warehouses will be picking up bags, ladders, and bins for the volunteers, but you should plan to bring gloves, a water bottle, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing.
