Dr. Dave Knoepfler, CMO & Scott Waters, CIO, Overlake Hospital Medical Center, “Healthcare Technology”
Dr. Knoepfler is the Chief Medical Officer at Overlake Hospital Medical Center and has worked at Overlake the majority of his career, starting as a volunteer in the emergency department in 1983. He began his career as a physician at Overlake, while his father, Peter Knoepfler, was also on the medical staff, making them the first father/son duo of practicing physicians at Overlake.
Dr. Knoepfler is an invested and involved Eastside native, having attended Bellevue public schools and then the University of Washington for both his undergraduate studies and medical school. Dr. Knoepfler joined Overlake as a community internist and then as a founder of Overlake’s hospitalist program.
During his 25‑year tenure at Overlake, Dr. Knoepfler has served on numerous committees and pursued his interests in health information technology as Overlake’s first chief medical information officer, where he worked to assure technology enhanced the delivery of care. In this capacity, he engaged both employed and community physicians in the development and implementation of our Epic electronic medical record system, while also ensuring the system supports optimal patient care, the best patient experience, and the highest quality of care for our patients.
