The Service To Mature Adults Committee coordinates programs and projects involving members of our senior community. On May 1st, Bellevue Rotary had an outreach to Evergreen Court Senior Center.
“We held an ‘auction.’ There were 40 seniors who had $1,500 each of Monopoly money to spend on a variety of items supplied by Rotary and our Rotarian volunteers. Everyone left with something.
“… we have an open invitation to come back anytime for another evening of fun.”
A special thanks to Cindy Phillips, who graciously agreed to be auctioneer; to Cecille Schuman, for all the loot she brought to the auction and her very good imitation of Vanna White as she modeled various auction items; to Robin Blackbourn, as our official photographer; to Sheri Ferguson, Kammie Lewis, Barbara Morgan, Natalie Werzynski, and her colleague Delores, for also bringing items to auction and for helping those mature adults who needed an extra hand in deciding what to bid for and how much money to pay.
I heard numerous comments from the residents, thanking the Rotarians for the evening and hoping we could do this more often. It was a Rotary love fest! A huge success!”
In the past, the Committee has provided tickets to seniors on fixed income so they could attend the Village Theater production of “Annie Get Your Gun,” hosted a Bingo Night at The Ashwood Court Senior Center, with prizes and refreshments. The residents really enjoyed the bingo party, and we have an open invitation to come back anytime for another evening of fun.
WE ALWAYS NEED VOLUNTEERS!
