J. Michael Marsh, President & CEO, Overlake Medical Center, “Overlake Medical Center: Beyond the Numbers”
Overlake Medical Center is a regional medical center supporting the Eastside and greater Puget Sound region. Mike Marsh’s longtime passion for health care innovation, clinical excellence and culture of engagement among providers and staff has transformed the Eastside’s health landscape. Since 2014, under Mike’s leadership, as President and CEO, Overlake has achieved measurable results in patient safety and clinical quality. Overlake has brought to this community game-changing innovation across the healthcare continuum. Mike and his leadership team continue to shape Overlake’s strategic position in the region’s changing health environment, including the formation of partnerships that mean more and better health care services for patients on the Eastside.
Mike brought to Overlake three decades of experience in healthcare leadership, supporting hospitals and health systems. He spent 26 years with Providence Health and Services — a multi-state health system serving the western United States in several markets — in a variety of senior executive positions, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer for the Washington/Montana markets and Chief Administrative Officer for Western Washington.
A cornerstone of the Eastside community since its formation as a non‑profit hospital in 1960, Overlake Medical Center is licensed for 349 beds and has grown to become one of the most comprehensive and advanced medical facilities in the region. From its comprehensive cardiac program, unparalleled cancer care, and advanced surgical services to its trusted childbirth center, Level III Trauma Center, psychiatric services, network of neighborhood clinics, and extensive community education and outreach activities, Overlake serves an important role in the diverse and growing community.
Mike holds a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Washington and was the first graduate of its Executive curriculum MHA degree. Mike is a board member for the Washington State Hospital Association, First Choice Health Network, and the Eastside Health Alliance; and, of course, a proud Bellevue Rotarian since March of 2016. Mike lives in Bellevue, with his wife, and they have one grown daughter.
