Boys & Girls Club International Day of Peace Ceremony, September 21
The Boys & Girls Club, in partnership with Bellevue Rotary, will celebrate The United Nations International Day of Peace by planting a Peace Pole at 12:00 noon, on September 21, at their Teen Center, located at 15228 Lake Hills Blvd, Bellevue. The languages on the Peace Pole will be English, Chinese, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Hindi, Russian, and Amharic.
We have worked together with the Boys & Girls Club in several workshops, on topics regarding healthy/unhealthy relationships and how to effectively deal with bullying, abuse, and violence that they may witness or experience.
The Club members are now working on posters themed “What Peace Looks Like to Me,” toward entering a Bellevue Rotary‑sponsored poster contest, with cash prizes. The winners of the contest will be announced at the Peace Pole ceremony, after which the first prize art will be painted on a building in Bellevue.
We invite — in fact urge — all Bellevue Rotarians to attend the ceremony to help inspire these young people toward promoting peace.
